Week 3+4

Week 3

Hmm seems so long ago. I'm stretching my mind a bit to remember. Ah yes Storyboarding the part at the end of the tutorial was good and the demonstration of the working of the thumbnails. I'm a bit slow on picking up every bit of information, so im glad there are those files from the lectures for later references and really picking up on it.

I didn't get much storyboarding for the practice of week 3 but ill post it anyways (really basic). Now I just want to focus on the animatic for assesment.

Week 4

I really wish we could have seen the movie animatics on the big screen this week, cause it was very hard to see what was going on. I'm not sure how benificial it was to go over the script and make suggestions for storyboarding, I thought the assignment was pretty straight forward. We just need to get the practise in to get the process going.

I'll keep that tip on doing clean up. (Look where the line is going, warm up drawing). I think I just need to get stuck into the animatic now.

7th March

Well we did some breakdown sheets as we all know. It all seems logical and easy to me, don't know why we needed a lesson on it. The realistic painting tutorial DVD was rather tedious to watch, did'nt really get much out of it (though it was a good painting).

Not to clear on the homework, are we meant to print out the whole of each script and colour it all in?? Does anyone have a copy of that powerpoint with the colour info on it??

Well no Thumbnails for this post :(

28th Febuary

Well here's the first for the year.
Learning about thumb nailing seemed like revision, nothing new. The way that guy created character designs through mathematical formulas was pretty cool, didn’t exactly understand it but it still seemed cool.

The dinosaur drawings were well done, and I though it was good for a bit of a feel to researching what were drawing, but I wish we had more time and examples of researching. Goggles good but it’s hard to find specific things to research, like with researching for German house interior designs from a certain time period (for Grim brothers fairytale research homework). Probably could have benefited used more tips on research techniques.

Here are some of the drawings I drew from studying German buildings. They are a bit of a mix of different photos. Not sure if all photos were from the right time period though.
